How I’m Wired

I’m a listener and a lifelong learner. I focus on reducing noise and achieving results. I do so by being kind yet bold, without fear, and in a collaborative spirit. I aim to be inspiring and innovative.

I care about the future of humanity. I have a vision for the future. My work involves education and caring for the greater common good. I aim to shift paradigms and mindsets. Adding to people’s lives vs. taking away from them is one of my top ambitions.

Work Life

I’m a digital native and co-founder of a marketing agency named conceptbakery. We sold our business in 2016.

Once the dust in my life settled, I began to focus on a property I had purchased with an idea in mind. I learned about the benefits of building electrification and stepped into the lengthy process of property development. I learned a lot and am happy to pass on whatever can be helpful to others. Lowering the emissions of our existing and new buildings could provide significant benefits to us and the generations to follow. I created a service named FUBUNO, aka Future Buildings Now, that focuses on sharing what might be helpful to others.

In addition, I’m currently working on an organization and legacy curating project, but I’m also happy to discuss new opportunities with you.

I’m an active member of Good Business Colorado and serve on the sustainable environment group. It’s a group of over 400 businesses that work towards a better Colorado, not just protecting their interest.

You can learn about my professional background at my LinkedIn profile.

Service Work

My philanthropic work involved starting a non-profit focusing on gender equality in World Cup nations. We were pretty active in South Africa, but with the selection of Russia and Qatar, the project ended.

More recently, I supported a food bank in a local mountain community.

Today I serve the unhoused community in North Denver when my time allows for it.

Personal Life

I live in Boulder, Colorado but spend time in Denver frequently.

I don’t have children, but I was a stepfather for many years to Francesca, the daughter of my former wife. Today I play an active role in the life of Josh and Gabe, the two sons of my partner Michelle. I have nine nieces and nephews. They all live in Germany, but I am a busy uncle and stay in touch.

Rushing from one form of entertainment to the next is not my life’s purpose. Yet, I do enjoy traveling. As an avid jazz lover, you will find me at select concerts, often performed by some of our outstanding local artists. The Five Points Jazz Festival in Denver is always one of my favorite days of the year.

Another big passion of mine is museums – big or small. I’ve been very fortunate to have visited many of the top museums in the world, but I enjoy a small museum telling local history or specializing in something obscure just as much.

I’m not a competitive sportsman, but I enjoy my runs, bike rides, pickleball, and various kinds of skiing in the winter.

Moving countries is very different than grabbing your passport and hopping on a plane. You are rebuilding your life from scratch.

Moving Countries

My first move from Germany to Luxemburg in 1990 was relatively easy. I could drive home in two hours whenever I needed to.

The move to the US in 1997 was much more involving. Being ten flight hours and nine times zones away from your friends and family is not always a picnic. Add the Visa/Citizenship challenges, financial struggles and you know you really have to want to be there.

I have no regrets and am happy with where I am today and how I got here.

Retirement

I aim to keep firing on all cylinders. My current estimated retirement age is 98. That could still be delayed in the future.
