My solution would be quite simple: I’d put every single officer on.leave without pay until they come back vaccinated. I could foresee people suing a police department because they got covd from an officer that enforced their presence on them.
Of course the unions protect this behavior. Unfortunately they are part of the problem, not the solution.
As for the health care workers that chose not to get vaccinated: if we’d have the capacity I’d fire all of them.
Nope, I have no compassion for the none-vaccers or anti-vaccers. Nada. Zilch.

70% of Boulder County’s adult population has gotten at least one shot. Now, if we could make that at least 85% and if the rest of the state and the nation please follow suit…
Hopefully, we’ll erect some effective hurdles soon to trigger everyone else to line up as well.
I’m all for theaters, restaurants, airports, schools, etc. to be only open for the vaccinated. That’ll do.

Unless there is a real strong reaction we can not feel safe when flying over the territory of a rogue country and longer. You’d have to zigzag around the world or stay home. We have seen many outright violations of international law over the last couple of decades. But this impacts us more than Putin murdering his enemies in foreign countries or even annexing Crimea.
Lukashenko is not a newbie. He knew exactly what he was doing. He thinks he can away with this. If the free world doesn’t stand united and proves him wrong then this is a very dangerous precedent for the future and our world will get a little smaller for all of us.

Extremely tragic. Temperatures dropped and 21 runners just froze to death. All they had with them was a small foldable blanket. No extra layer, jacket, etc.
The race organizers already apologized, but since this happened in Chinna I really wouldn’t want to be one of them.
If you are one of those ambitious mountain racers (running, cycling, or whatever) then please back an extra layer or two. It’s only a few extra ounces.

I am going to say something completely outrageous: I consider Taiwan to be a country.
It has its own elections. It has its own government and territory. It’s (trying) to defend itself. It has its own flag. It has citizens.
China threatens its independence and celebrities with dealings in China kiss up to its ruthless dictatorship government. I am with the dude on this one: This aggression can not stand!
And no, I have no intentions to travel to China and get my precious lower back arrested. Klaus and dictatorships generally don’t blend too well. I didn’t even visit East Germany before it came free speech territory. I passed through on a train to Berlin once. That was already bad enough.
American democracy is really down to a one party system. Republicans have compöwtely checked out. This is not good. It’s a very fragile situation. We’re in relatively good show today but that can shift quickly.
One party is bigly in the process of chipping away from our democracy. If they prevail you might need an action plan and either get out or go into survival mode. Let’s hope we don’t have to face this choice. We will see…
